Gárdonyi Géza - Messze van odiáig!

The long and varied centuries of the history of literature have given birth to many writers and poets. Some of them we know, some we don't, and quite a few we think we know... Géza Gárdonyi is also an exciting figure in the latter group.
The reader tends to believe that Gárdonyi is only the author of The Stars of Egri, The Invisible Man and a few other novels, and we even foolishly think that we can recognize him through his novels. What a mistake! Even for his contemporaries, Gárdonyi seemed to be an elusive, mysterious and eccentric man.
Today, if the lover of literature undertakes the adventure of delving deeper into Gárdonyi's world of writing, he cannot leave his short stories unread, a selection of which he is currently holding in his hand. Read and savor all of them in order to get a true, thorough and detailed picture of the Hungary of a bygone era; giggle or laugh at the characters and situations that are still familiar today, nod your head in recognition of the never-ending wisdom, and at the end of the last short story, realize how little you knew Gárdonyi - and in the meantime discover the diverse humor of the Egri Hermitage!
