The glorious site of our national history is the Eger Castle, during the siege of which in 1552 two thousand patriotic people triumphed over two hundred thousand merciless foreign invaders. But the stars of Eger are not only the favorite reading of Hungarian people: Géza Gárdonyi also considered the whirlwind novel to be his best work.
