Product description
At the age of seventy-seven, Erika Fülöp Hollósi's grandmother wrote her extremely colorful life story, full of both joys and sorrows, on paper in beautiful letters. This book is based on this diary, with the help of which we can travel back in time to a long-gone era. We can get to know the bourgeois life in Vienna and Budapest at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Born in the family of a master shoemaker in Sárvár, the little girl was raised in Vienna by her childless aunt and her husband from the age of seven. They gave him everything to become a versatile, honest person. Here he completed his schooling, here he became aware of the world, here he experienced the feeling of love, here he made lifelong friendships. And although a difficult fate awaited him after an uneventful childhood, he always tried to overcome the obstacles that arose in his life. In addition to personal events, the grandmother also shows us historical events through her subjective filter, comments on them, and shows how they affected the lives of ordinary people. It was no coincidence that the main motto of his life was summed up in this very sentence: "For some, one lifetime is not enough to realize what life is, and for some, one hour is enough to understand everything about it."
