The basic question of the book: how does memory culture become memory politics.
The relationship system of three key concepts is present throughout the studies, these are institutionalization, politicization as memory politics, and identity politics. The authors' approach is constructivist, the culture of memory is considered a socially created phenomenon. For the researcher, it is thus a basic question of what the construction will be made of, what stories the builders of memory move. Celebration and forgetting are the two counterpoints of the culture of remembrance. The volume mainly deals with the creation and variations of the former. Professional social and historical research is inevitably one of the factors in shaping this. The book aims to strengthen this role.
