Product description
As he has done in his five volumes of poems published so far, Márton Falusi also travels the country and Europe in his essays: in space and time. Meanwhile, he creates portraits of, for example, Sándor Csoóri, János Székely and István Ágh; includes the Mountain Region, Rome and Vienna; participates in the book week, scientific conferences and beer parties, i.e. in the literary life. He considers points of view, analyzes directions of interpretation, and reflects on contemporary events and conditions. Culture without aristocracy? in his volume of studies and essays, this time Falusi explores the points of connection between culture, philosophy and literature either on the basis of certain trends (the need for spectacle, public poetry, the narrowing of the value-preserving capacity of high culture), or through the operation of tradition (the ways in which the versatility of János Arany's oeuvre is asserted today, the evolution of the relationship between home and progress in the domestic institutional system, the possibilities of love poetry) is revealed for readers who are receptive to the contemporary arrangements of contemporary literature, but not necessarily for professional readers.
Márton Falusi (1983, Budapest) is a József Attila Prize-winning poet, essayist, chief academic staff member of the MMA MMKI, fiction editor of the Hitel magazine and lecturer at the Előrtolt Helyőrség Writing Academy.
The lecturer's prose works published so far:
Palm Sunday Sack Running (essays, studies, reviews, Hitel Könyvműhely, 2012)
Artificial crickets in opal fields (essays, studies, Nap Kiadó, 2016)
Law and literature, homeland and progress in the history of Hungarian ideas (monograph, MMA MMKI, 2018)
"National culture in the sense of high culture is the state's most important legitimizing platform: it preserves its monopoly of violence, its financial and judicial apparatus, separate from other states and regional integrations, so that the given ethnic group can create its own history in its own culture."
