In the summer of 1948, a desperate woman appeared at gynecologist Aladár Körner with a silent, young girl. Klára, who lost her parents and siblings during the war, is sixteen years old, morbidly thin, as if she doesn't want to grow up. The man, who was the only one in his family to survive the period of crisis, quickly recognizes behind her speechlessness and adolescent rage the loneliness and amazing desire for love that he too has to deal with every day.
A special friendship develops between Aladár and Klára in a short time, difficult for others to interpret. A friendship that transcends all social norms and helps these two people learn to live and love again after the unspeakable horrors of war. Can such a relationship remain in its original purity, or will it finally be crushed by history?

ZSUZSA F. VÁRKONYI was born in 1948 and graduated from ELTÉ in clinical psychology. He also works as a psychotherapist, educator and trainer, is the author and translator of numerous books on psychology, regularly gives lectures and speaks as an expert on various radio and TV programs. The girls' novel Men's Time, published in 2004, is her first work of fiction. In 2019, Hungary nominated a film based on the novel entitled Those Who Remained for the Oscar.
