Product description
Rulers at all times sought to ensure their personal protection; their bodyguards served this purpose. This was not only a task of trust and protection, but also served representative purposes. This was also symbolized by their ornate, distinctive uniforms. The bodyguards were usually excellently trained, disciplined and battle-honored Dalian lads who proudly wore the Guard insignia. In the course of history, some rulers have created famous formations: among others, the Roman Praetorians, Napoleon's old guard or the papacy's Swiss bodyguard. Of course, the Hungarian rulers also had bodyguards. Among them, Mária Terézia's Hungarian Noble Bodyguard, made up of Hungarian youths, stands out, and from György Bessenyei to Sándor Kisfaludy, their names were entered in the golden book of our national literature. Even today, it is vilified by many. It was the bodyguard of the "Horthy era" that, faithfully sticking to its oath of national independence and the defense of the homeland, bravely fought the German invaders and then the Soviet liberators in the Szent László Division. Our book reviews the history of this truly elite guard from the Árpád era to the last rifle shot fired in 1945 in defense of the homeland. This work tries to remember a forgotten body, whose members brought a lot of glory to our country. This article pays tribute to them.
