Product description
Géza Róheim (Budapest, September 12, 1891 – New York, June 7, 1953) was a Hungarian ethnographer, a world-renowned scholar of the psychoanalytic trend of ethnology. In the preface to his work entitled "Hungarian folklore and customs", he writes the following: This small book aims to make the scientific preparation of Hungarian folklore and customs accessible to the public and its results so far... Of course, in addition to the ethnological objective, I dealt with the also with the psychology of occurring habits, and it goes without saying that here, as for ten years or so, in all my work, I have found only the method of psychoanalysis to lead to the goal. When I was a child, I dreamed that one day I would write the new »Ipolyi«. This isn't the book I envisioned, but I still feel like it's a modest step toward that goal. And so, with the sign of Arnold Ipolyi, I send my work to the wings. "Enter, here too you will find the eternal human."
