The D-Link DEM-312GT2 is a 1-port Mini-GBIC SFP transceiver for Gigabit Ethernet over fibre optic cabling. The module follows the 1000BaseSX standard and transmits data over multimode fibre across distances of up to 2 km. Its LC connector fits standard LC-terminated fibre cables.
As an SFP module, it installs into free SFP slots on compatible switches, routers or network cards that support Mini-GBIC transceivers. This allows Gigabit-speed links over fibre, for example to connect buildings or server rooms within a campus network.
Designed for multimode fibre installations, the module suits environments where a copper connection is unsuitable or prone to electrical interference.
