Product description
The eighth volume of our series offers a glimpse into the life of Margit Kaffka. Neither the compiler of the volume nor the series editor believes that literature can be divided into men's literature and women's literature. At the same time, not in the fact that the gender of the author is a completely negligible factor in terms of the possibilities of writing, personal experience or acceptance. This excitingly talented woman had a tragically short life. It started at the turn of the previous century, at the same time as Ady and Móricz, i.e. with the first generation of the Nyugat magazine, and became a victim of the raging Spanish flu epidemic at the end of the First World War. He was looking for a companion, someone with whom he could not only share the penny worries of everyday life, but who would also stand by him in his work. Writers, poets, visual artists, and critics revolved around him, some of whom he had more than friendship with for a while. He was married twice, but he only found his real life partner in his second marriage. He lived thirty-eight and a half years. In this limited time, she tried to tell how much more difficult life had in store for those who came into the world as a woman. We don't know him enough, we don't read him enough. His lyrics and prose include: what it was like to be a female pen-wielder in Hungary a century ago.
