What the dear reader is holding in his hands is the summary of the 20th century's greatest Hungarian historian on the ancient history of Hungary. Tibor Baráth's life's work was completed in Paris, Cluj and Montreal. This book was published in English in 1983, nearly a decade after the publication of the three-volume, huge opus, The Prehistoric History of the Magyar Peoples.

In the first chapter of The Early Hungarians, he discusses in detail the derailment of Hungarian cake element research, the antecedents and circumstances of its loss. The readers of our Hungarian studies series already have an idea of the extent of this. But they too must be surprised to read that the first Egyptian pharaoh was called Arpad. For Hungarians, the names of the Egyptian pharaohs from RAMSESS to TUTANHAM sound familiar. But the fact that the first Egyptian pharaoh was called ÁRPÁD was carefully excluded from the Hungarian-language repository of Egyptian knowledge. This book by Tibor Baráth sheds light on a seven-thousand-year-old process, which could also be called: Árpáds - in Egypt, along the Euphrates and in the Carpathian basin.

The early Hungarians draw a completely new image of Hungarians, which places the mosaics of Hungarian history in a coherent system in an understandable and traceable way, from the Sumerians through the Egyptians to the Finno-Ugric peoples. Whoever reads this, the first sentence of the definition of the Hungarian nation becomes understandable and indisputable: "The Magyarás the mysteriously preserved people who preserve the language and, to a lesser extent, the culture of an important civilization before the Greco-Roman civilization, and to an even lesser extent – through organic education, mythology, and archaic folktales – their world of belief.”

The fact that Tibor Baráth's life-changing work had to be published in exile, as well as the fact that forty years had to pass before this book became available in Hungarian, justifies point 3.2 of the definition of the Hungarian nation: it lives through organizations and events that preserve Hungarian consciousness. In historical periods of crisis, the world diaspora plays a national saving role." (VIII World Congress of Hungarians – Budapest, 2012 – The Hungarian Nation)

The Early Hungarians is the book that every Hungarian who has graduated must read and incorporate into his image of Hungarianness and Hungarian self-knowledge.

We are the only authentic custodian of the vast Eastern heritage, the only professional interpreter of the ancient world. Without our language, the first era of humanity would have remained forever in obscurity." (Tibor Baráth)
