Bán Aladár (Várpalota, November 3, 1871 – Budapest, September 26, 1960) Hungarian poet, literary translator, literary historian, folklorist. His original name was Károly Mór Bánvárth, which he changed to Aladár Bán in July 1889. He published his article on shamanism in the scientific journal Ethnographia in 1908. "We will examine the main characteristics of shamanism, the religious figures who appear under different names in different peoples but have a uniform character, the faith in them and the actions they carry out, in order to show: to whom we can correctly apply the name shaman and what actions can be called shamanism .” - writes the author in the introduction of his presentation.
