Product description
This volume collects the previous studies of Gergely Bakos OSB, which were published in their original form between 2000 and 2017 in various journals and volumes. The writings that can be read here focus primarily on the author's field of expertise in the narrower sense, medieval philosophy - but at the same time, they provide an overview of the entire history of Western philosophy: both ancient, modern, and contemporary thinking. The discussion of various medieval authors and issues, as well as the explicitly methodological papers complement each other nicely. The volume as a whole is interested in exploring the existential meaning of (medieval) texts, at the same time it is ready to learn from more traditional methodologies and is open to the results of contemporary philosophy - domestic and international.
"Causa laetitiae - "The cause of joy": this volume, above all, wants to bear witness to the joy of thinking. He wants to convey to the reader the joy that can be shared by anyone who seriously dedicates himself to the noble adventure of thinking that pays attention to both the results of tradition and the otherness of the Other. A true understanding of the results achieved in the past can never renounce the interpretation of today's challenges. And by correctly asking our questions today, we can learn a lot from those who came long before us."
