The War of the Rings - The Card Game J.R.R. Tolkien transports you to the magical world of The Lord of the Rings, where players can shape the dramatic conflict between the Dark Lord, Sauron and the Free People of Middle-earth. The Free Peoples are desperate to complete the most important mission of their lives, to destroy the One Ring, while heroically defending their homeland from the approaching hordes of Sauron and his evil allies. The Darkness must strike swiftly and effectively before the Ringbearers can successfully complete their mission; or they may try to slowly corrupt Frodo, plagued by wounds, fatigue, and grief at the loss of his companions.

Up to 4 players can take part in the battle between the Darkness and the Free Peoples, each player using their own unique deck of cards that represent the strengths and weaknesses of the various factions swept into the war.

During the game, players take turns playing cards that represent characters, armies, objects, and events from the War of the Ring. Each card played helps or hinders the Alliance as it moves forward on its path; or the cards can be used to defend or conquer Middle-earth strongholds as players fight for control of new Battleground Cards activated each round.
