Ádám Gyula - A megkerült Tomato (2019)

Beauty has a thousand faces, but Gyula Ádám has ten thousand. Because there is nothing more beautiful than the face of an old woman or old man from Székely, whose wrinkles reflect the novel of a murderer's joy, sorrow and history, but there is also nothing more beautiful than childlike seriousness, which the artist also immortalized on numerous occasions: being a child is different here than anywhere else in the world. Gyula Ádám captures the recent past and present of his people - a disciplined and famously hardworking, but at the same time unrestrained and capricious military people due to their passion - let's say: the decades of the turn of the millennium. But in this contemporary time, there is history, as many pictures date back to the 18th and 19th centuries. even in the 19th century, a time-traveling photographer could have captured it. There is "who knows where, where fate will take you". And in each photograph, God is there, there is the religious faith that helped the Székely people through their difficult history. This wonderful album is a heart-wrenching collection, there are hardly any Hungarians who could leaf through it with dry eyes. Dénes János Orbán
