Knights of the Western Kingdom takes place during a turbulent period in the history of Western France, around 900 AD. Recently, many developments have taken place in the cities, but the more distant settlements are still in danger due to the invaders. The Saracens sent scouts to the country's border, while the Vikings ravaged the area, stealing animals and entire properties. Even the Byzantines in the north showed the whiteness of their teeth. As nobles, players must recruit workers in the city to defend it from enemies, build fortifications, and spread the word throughout the land. Fortunately, you will not be alone in this fight, as the king is sending his best knights to help you! Saddle the horses and craft your sword!

In Knights of the Western Kingdom, the winner will be whoever has the most Victory Points (VyP) at the end of the game. Points can be earned by building outposts and fortifications, installing monks and confronting invaders. Each round, players enlist the help of a special knight and collect workers to perform various tasks. As the game progresses, players slowly grow in faith, power, and influence. These not only affect end-game scores, but also determine their actions. The game ends after the seventh round.
