The short book tries to present the most important stages of medieval Hungarian lyric poetry without the need for completeness, it also contains sources that are still considered curiosities today. László Geréb not only selected but also translated these works, which are outstanding period documents of Hungarian literature and, at the same time, of Hungarian spiritual history, as they are true reflections of the Hungarian people's thinking about themselves.
