The two main schools of witchcraft are called black and white magic. White witchcraft is based on Celtic beliefs, the cult of Diana, and other fertility rituals. Black magic, the so-called Satanism, includes the worship of the devil, satanic practices, sometimes perverted sexuality, human sacrifice and murder. Satanists consider the devil to be a higher or more favored deity. So it is the exact opposite of the Christian faith. The central cultic holiday of the two variations is the so-called witch's sabbath, which is usually attended by thirteen members of both sexes. This is how the knowledge acquired over thousands of years was preserved and passed on. Soothsayers, healers, and midwives often mastered the complex forces of nature. Night celebrations were strictly hidden from the authorities and religious leaders. There were leading men and leading women, but there was no hierarchy; each initiate could one day be a priest or priestess, hold a ritual, or initiate a novice. The witch's sabbath affected all members of a small group of friends. Rituals, before they faded into the background, were popular meeting places to exchange secrets and spells. Magic and sorcery have always been part of witchcraft. Both claim that his powers come from supernatural sources. If we observe magic more closely, we can see that it is a combination of skill, intuition and scientific knowledge, all three of which are based on mystical experience. Therefore, magic must be distinguished from witchcraft.
