Winston Graham - A Poldark family 2. Demelza

The beloved Poldark story continues. The daughter of a destitute miner, Demelza Carne, who was rescued by Ross Poldark from a fairground brawl, is now his happy spouse. However, the events of these stormy years put their marriage and love to the test. While Ross engages in a fierce fight for the rights of the mining settlements, Demelza tries to adapt to the lifestyle of the country gentlemen (including her husband), straining her strength, and because of this, she gets into increasingly strange and embarrassing situations. After the ill-fated beginning of a long feud between Ross and the influential George Warleggan, the question arises whether she will be able to overcome their differences at home, or whether they will forever deprive her and her life partner of their happiness. Demelza transports the reader to the breathtaking scenery of eighteenth-century Cornwall in one of the most wonderful love stories of all time. Can love be preserved if the world wants to destroy it?
