Archbishop Óscar Arnulfo Romero, who was beatified on May 23, 2015, greets his readers with an icon on the cover of the volume "God's word for every day 2016". Blessed Óscar Arnulfo Romero lived radiating such a church image and became its first martyr. In his bull Misericordiae Vultus announcing the Holy Year of Mercy, Pope Francis writes: There are moments when we are invited even more urgently to fix our eyes on mercy, so that we ourselves can become effective signs of the Father's action. That is why I announced the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy as a suitable time for the Church to make the witness of the faithful stronger and more effective.
