Victor Lavalle - Black Tom balladája

People go to New York to find magic, and nothing can convince them that they won't find it there.

Charles Thomas Tester is a con man and swindler, well known from Harlem to Red Hook. Tom knows the magic of a suit, how to make himself invisible with a guitar, and the kind of black magic that covers his skin that makes rich whites and the police glare at him when he's in front of them. However, when he takes an occult tome to a terrifying sorceress into the heart of Queens, Tom opens the door to true magic, drawing the attention of things that should never have been awakened from their dark slumber.

Clouds are gathering in the Brooklyn sky, and in Black Tom's wake, the winds of a storm are rising that are about to swallow the whole world.
