Product description
Although the author is not a historical figure personally, he lived through some historical eras. Second World War, "bright winds", cold war, 1953 "new stage", 1955 "undoing", 1956 revolution, Kádár counter-revolution, then the 1960s "meltdown" refreezing", the "Prague Spring" of '68 with the subsequent "ethnic renaissance", then the disintegration of civil society with partisanship, system change and Fukuyama's mistake...
The events and connections of these eras were the stages of the "historical obstacle course" that our narrator had to stumble through in order to tear himself away from the "system conforming" family, school, political and cultural atmosphere of the 1950s and search for his own path and a self-image that matches his ideals throughout his life. .
In the course of his self-consuming warfare, he primarily had to deal with various levels of father images - including the political ones as well as the shadow of his biological father, which after the scientist's pre-war humanist start merged too much with the post-war "carved images".
A sharp contour is given to the subjective memory by some reports "written in a file" about what the author "dreamed about" in some critical stages of his life. Together, personal memories and state security documents outline a - if not quite typical, but certainly characteristic - life path of a Hungarian intellectual in the twentieth century.
