The second part of the trilogy and the sequel to the award-winning Total War: WARHAMMER, Total War: WARHAMMER II offers players another breathtaking campaign across the vast continents of Lustria, Ulthuan, Naggaroth and the Southlands. The Great Vortex Campaign builds the plot in stages until the climax, the final and grandiose conclusion, providing an experience unlike any Total War game ever.

A millennium ago, besieged by the Chaos invasion, a conclave of Noble Elves created a huge, mystical vortex to drain the Wind of Magic from the world like a sinkhole into the ocean, driving the Chaos Hordes back into the Chaos Realm. The Great Vortex is now swirling and the world is once again on the brink of destruction. Powerful forces are trying to fix the vortex to prevent catastrophe, while others, driven by their own selfish goals, want to grind its terrible energies to their own mills. The race has begun, and the fate of the world will be in the hands of the winner.

Prince Tyrion, protector of Ulthuan, leads the High Elves in their desperate attempt to stabilize the vortex swirling over their continent.

From the throne of his footcarriage, Slann Mage Priest Mazdamundi commands his army of Lizardmen north of Lustria. He also intends to prevent the disaster, but following the commandments of the Ancients.

Witch-king Malekith and his sadistic Dark Elf hordes advance from Naggaroth and their maze-like Black Barks. He feels great weakness in the vortex—and great opportunity in its destruction.

In the meantime, the fourth, mysterious race is also on the move... their motives are obscured by sinister plans and intrigues... The time for their appearance is approaching...

As one of the 8 Legendary Warlords of Warhammer Fantasy Battles 4's iconic race, players must successfully perform a series of mystical rites to stabilize or disrupt the Great Vortex while preventing the progress of other races. Each Legendary Warlord has a unique geographic starting position, and different races offer different playstyles with unique campaign mechanics, story, war methods, armies, monsters, Magic Doctrines, legendary characters, and stunning new battlefield bombardment abilities.

Shortly after release, owners of both the original game and Total War: WARHAMMER II will have access to the colossal combined campaign. Merging the lands of the Old World and the landscapes of Naggaroth, Lustria, Ulthuan, and the Southland into one epic map, players can embark on large-scale campaigns with all races from both games.
