Thomas Keneally - Schindler listája

The Australian author's novel, which has now become a bestseller, commemorates Oskar Schindler, a former German industrialist. Schindler was a born businessman and gambler. He joins the Nazi party at an early age, and his only goal is to enjoy life, money and beautiful women. At the beginning of the Second World War, he moves to Kraków in the hope of getting rich quickly, and he immediately senses the enormous business opportunities that can open up to him. Through friendly relations and some cleverness, he gets himself a factory and is unable to fulfill the orders pouring in from Hitler's army. Because he has an excellent relationship with the Nazi leadership, he receives all the support for his business, and he can recruit cheap labor from the Jewish ghetto for his factory.
However, the series of executions and humiliations you will witness will make you realize what is really happening. He slowly comes to terms with the fact that the system he serves and benefits from is an inhumane, murderous system that sends innocents to their deaths. After seeing the concentration camps and the cold-blooded murders, he hates fascism, and from then on, he tries to save the lives of his Jewish workers, about two and a half thousand people, using all means, tricks and bribes.
The novel is the story of a controversial hero who proves that a single person can change the course of things despite the circumstances, and the drama of those who survive one of the darkest chapters in human history with his help.
