The Thermal Grizzly WireView GPU, 1x 12VHPWR (inverted) in detail
Thermal Grizzly WireView GPU is a tool that measures and displays the power consumption, voltage and current of graphics cards with a 12VHPWR power connector. Another advantage is that the U-shaped design of the adapter enables optimized cable routing for clean cable management.
What does WireView GPU do?
WireView GPU allows you to measure the power consumption of your graphics cards and records this data to determine the power consumption. This data can be used, for example, to determine the energy costs of a graphics card or to compare energy consumption with other graphics cards.
The following information can be displayed on the OLED display: from the WireView GPUs:
- Display of the current energy consumption in watts [W]
-Energy consumption in watts [W], voltage in volts [V], current in amperes [A]
-Minimum and maximum energy consumption in watts [W]
-Average energy consumption at 60 seconds [AVG W] and total energy consumption [E]
In addition to real-time display of power consumption, the WireView GPU stores the measured data internally. In this way, the average consumption of the graphics card over a longer period of time can be recorded. The memory can be reset during operation. In addition to graphics cards, other PCI expansion cards are compatible with the WireView GPU as long as they have the appropriate 12VHPWR power connector.
Which WireView GPU is required?
Regardless of the type and number of PCIe power connectors on a graphics card, their orientation is critical to selecting the right WireView GPU. WireView GPU is available in "Normal" (N) and "Inverted" (R) versions.
-If the graphics card is equipped with PCIe power connectors, where the connectors' mounting clips are away from the PCB, then the NORMAL version is required. With a normal horizontal installation of the graphics card, this would be at the bottom. This variation is the most common type of connector alignment.
-If the graphics card is equipped with PCIe power connectors, where the connectors' mounting clips align with the PCB, then the REVERSE version is required. With a normal horizontal installation of the graphics card, this would be on top. This can be seen from the fact that the PCB has recesses for the connector's mounting tabs.
