The TASCAM DR-10L Digital Voice Recorder with clip-on microphone is an ultra-compact digital recorder and clip-on microphone combination. It is an effective problem solver, provides professional sound and a high degree of comfort. It's an excellent choice for creative filmmakers and busy videographers alike, but it's also an inspiring tool for experimental sound designers thanks to its portability, high quality and small, professionally-specified microphone.

For added flexibility, the included wired clip-on microphone can be attached with a screw connector, which is compatible with most Sennheiser clip-on microphones and other microphones with the same connector.

The DR-10L is small, easy to hide and weighs only 63 grams including battery. It also comes with a durable clip that can be used to attach the unit to a belt and hide it, for example, under a jacket.

It records in a wide sound level range with a sensitivity of -42 dBV/Pa and a maximum input sound pressure of 115 dB SPL. This means that it picks up quiet speakers just as well as loud ones. A few settings are required on the simple panel to start recording, and the screw lock ensures a secure connection at all times.

A single easily available alkaline AAA battery can operate continuously for up to 10 hours. ​​This means all-day performance with minimal battery changes. Disposable lithium or rechargeable NiMH batteries can also be used. It can be used for up to 15 hours with a lithium battery. Battery life may vary depending on battery type.

The DR-10L is designed as a stand-alone, remote recording device, so it is well prepared for such situations. It has several features to prevent distorted sound, but the safest is dual recording. This function records a copy of the signal at a lower level, as a safety band in case of distortion.

You can choose between five different gain levels or use the automatic level adjustment function. If the input volume is too low or too high, the recorder can automatically increase or decrease the recording level to the appropriate value. There is also a limiter to prevent distortion caused by sudden input overload. These features save you from having to deal with recording level settings in situations where there is no second chance.

The DR-10L is used for high-quality audio recording in 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz and 16/24 bit resolution. The device records in WAV/BWF recording format, you can choose between mono or poly (a stereo file with the same data on the left and right channels). V2.0 and later firmware updates also offer MP3 recording at 128 kbps and 192 kbps.

The battery charge level, recording status and level indicator can be checked on the easy-to-read OLED display. As a result, the recorder works without LEDs, which can be particularly distracting in dark production environments.

If the battery runs out while recording, the device automatically saves the file before turning off, so the recording is not lost. The design of the case allows for quick replacement of batteries.

Although the DR-10L is really small, it has a headphone output that allows you to check the recorded data instantly, as well as monitor the input while recording. Although you can connect stereo headphones, you'll hear the same signal on both sides because the DR-10L records in mono.
