The work of Szabolcs Szetey carefully, data-rich and sensitively explores the international and domestic textbook literature of homiletics education between 1784-1878, as well as the connections between preaching practice. Such a comprehensive presentation and evaluation of this period has not yet been published in Hungarian, or about the history of homiletics and preaching of the period. At many points, the book prepares the possibility of further research and corrects it with its data, making the previous, fixed, schematic findings and opinions without basic research more nuanced. The data collected and published in the monograph and the presented connections clearly prove that the history of theology needs to re-evaluate the long XIX. 20th century's performance in principle and the results of his preaching practice.
