If science is really just a document - facts and their interweaving, facts and their reasons, without any personal addition - then it is still writing. And if it is writing, then there had to be a person behind it, the writing person.
Lettres. Letters, letters. And literature itself. Homme de lettres, man of letters, man of words. The literary man, the writer and the translator are also this double-glasses, as if empowered, reader.

János Szávai's oeuvre is a carnival of French pilots and Hungarian autobiographers, scribes and prophets, great French novels, deep-night journeys, memoirs and writer's diaries; "passion and form", the passion of mediating between Hungarian and French literature and culture, introduction and exit from Hungarian literature, starting from The Planet of the Little Prince to the freedom of Ricoeur and beyond; all of this is ultimately "autobiography", an intellectual autobiography.
János Szávai is greeted by his colleagues, students and friends in Hungarian and French with a tribute volume compiled for his 80th birthday. The volume - supplemented by some contemporary fiction texts and personal and professional reminiscences - contains studies related to the multifaceted, extensive and influential work of the celebrated literary historian, literary translator and cultural mediator.
