Szávai János - A követ all követ követ

A few years ago, a friend of mine asked me when I would finally write my autobiography, and if I did, how much my theoretical writings examining the genre would help me. I'm getting ready, I answered him then, but for now I don't even know at which end I can start. Because the possibilities are unlimited. What is certain is that, like all memoirists, I should also find the Archimedean point from which I could start, from which, looking back, I could highlight everything that I think is really important, and then somehow arrange and include those selected in this way into a narrative. I finally came to the conclusion, but this happened long after the quoted conversation, that the years in Paris could provide the framework. But the text itself is by no means compiled in the form of a chronicle. Rather, I highlight the junctions, starting from which other time planes are necessarily included in the narrative, since everything has antecedents and everything has consequences. The period in Paris is exciting, among other things, because here personal history is intertwined with our common history, to put it pathetically: with History; since they cannot exist without each other. At the same time, this choice also gives me the opportunity to add everything that appears in my thoughts, in my consciousness, that concerns me, whether at the time or later.
