Szabó Magda - Lamb Boldizsár (2016)

... that familiar figure
red shoes, green hat,
snack basket on his shoulder...
You know who. You know?
Boldizsár Bárány.

The title character of Bárány Boldizsár (1958) travels a long way during the eighteen "steps", i.e. chapters, of the tale: the little lamb who doesn't care about others, whines about the consequences of his actions, skips school, and can't even lie or steal, comes to bitter repentance, to loving compassion, and with heroic effort he sets himself on the right path. Boldizsár Bárány has long been one of the "basic fairy tales" with its atmosphere-creating power, sparkling ideas, playful rhymes, and especially its parable of the struggle between good and evil.
The volume is decorated with illustrations by Edit Szalma.
