Sulyok Bernadett - Ami örök and ami mulandó

During his university years, Bernadett Sulyok began researching the oeuvre of János Kodolányi. He wrote his doctoral dissertation on Kodolányi's myth novels on Mesopotamian and biblical themes - Flood, New Sky, New Earth, The Burning Lace Bush, I Am. This dissertation forms the basis of his volume What is Eternal and What is Transient. In addition to presenting and interpreting the four novels, the author explores their cultural historical contexts and reviews their reception to date. His interpretation also extends to the writer’s worldview, the conceptual background of the myth novels, the “wholeness” unfolding in the novels, the narrative structure, and the story-organizing role of recurring, repetitive motifs.
