The LA-EA5 supports all A-mount lenses, e.g. Sonnar T* 135mm F1.8 ZA and Planar T* 85mm F1.4 ZA, which do not have an internal motor. It supports focal plane phase detection AF, real-time Eye AF (for humans and animals), real-time tracking and continuous AF/AE tracking at up to 11fps.

Compact, cylindrical design and convenient handling
The newly developed compact AF unit and aperture are housed in a slim, high-performance cylindrical common ring. The intermediate ring matches the diameter of the A-bayonet, so nothing sticks out at the bottom of the bayonet when using a compact E-bayonet frame, making it comfortable to hold and handle even when the camera is held vertically.
