Permanent, F4 max. aperture
A constant F4 aperture across the entire 18-105mm range means zooming and image adjustments can be made as needed without worrying about changing exposure settings. Even with the largest telephoto zoom, you do not need to increase the ISO sensitivity, thereby avoiding possible noise increases.

Continuously variable zoom speed control

With the help of the zoom button on the middle ring, you can control the zoom speed with light finger movements or use the zoom ring to zoom evenly while holding the camera securely and stably. This can be a big advantage for smooth, stable handling, especially if you're shooting motion pictures.
