The SNZB-04P is the Sonoff Zigbee door and window opening sensor, a very small smart home sensor using the Zigbee 3.0 protocol, which sends a signal to control other devices via a Zigbee gateway. Its very small size allows it to be discreetly placed on either a door or a window.
Compared to its predecessor, the SNZB-04, it has finer, rounded lines, a larger capacity battery and similarly standard Zigbee 3.0 compatibility.

For example, communicating via a Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro, it transmits data to the eWeLink cloud, and we can control other Sonoff or SmartWise WiFi and eWeLink devices based on its data.
Thanks to the Zigbee 3.0 standard, the SNZB-04P can also be used with other Zigbee gateways (for full compatibility, always check the gateway device's support list).

What is the Zigbee protocol?
Most Sonoff products use Wi-Fi and RF as communication methods, which enable more affordable products compared to other smart home technologies, but are not specifically IoT standards.

On the other hand, Zigbee is an ideal communication solution specifically for devices with low energy requirements, where there is not a large amount of data transfer, but the smallest possible time delay is important. Zigbee is a good choice for battery-operated sensors or remote controls, for example, where compared to WiFi, thanks to Zigbee, multiple operating times are typical. The Zigbee sensors cannot be used by themselves, they require a Zigbee gateway, which can be used to connect them to our home / office network.

Due to the nature of Zigbee technology, pairing with individual Zigbee devices is a snap, much faster than Wi-Fi pairing.
