The Shelly PLUS Uni is a novelty of the European manufacturer in 2024, one of the smallest smart devices in the world, with which traditional devices can be retrofitted: like the Shelly PLUS i4, it can detect the switching signal of traditional physical switches or other relays, and like the Shelly temperature adapter, digital thermometers can be connected to it too. Like other Shelly GEN2 devices, this is also a smart device equipped with Wi-Fi + Bluetooth, compatible with Shelly Cloud app and other systems supported by Shelly with cloud service.

The Shelly PLUS UNI is a truly versatile, universal small device, since:

- The device is particularly universal in terms of its power supply, as the Shelly Uni works from 5V DC, 9V-28V DC and 8V-24V AC power. It is also equipped with two digital inputs IN1 and IN2, which can be used as switching inputs by touching them to GND.
- Its additional input COUNT IN also makes it suitable for contact counting.
- The output side is also universal: the switching on the two potential-free outputs can be controlled by the input side, but it can also be controlled independently of them, it can switch max. Up to 24V AC and 36V DC, maximum 250 mA in both cases.
- It is also equipped with a universal ADC, i.e. analog-to-digital signal converter, which can handle 0-15V or 0-30V DC.
- Up to 3 DS18B20 waterproof bar thermometers OR 1 DHT22 humidity sensor can be connected, based on the data of which we can switch the output side, local or cloudy Scenes / Smart controls.

Although it does not have its own outer protective case, a transparent insulating cover protects it from high humidity, dust and the risk of short circuits.

It is suitable for a really versatile use:

For example, you can connect the doorbell button to its digital inputs, and using the Shelly App Scene (Smart Control) function, you can use it to send a notification or email to your phone.

Thanks to its controllable output, it is also suitable for installation in and control of traditional household appliances.

And because of the digital thermometers and humidity sensors that can be connected to it, it provides one of the cheapest and simplest ways to process sensor data. Basically, any analog sensor can be connected to the dual ADC (e.g. water level sensor) and it can also be used to control the filling of tanks.

We can also connect the pull-in coils of high-performance relays to the two potential-free outputs, so we can perform higher-power switching, so we can smarten them up afterwards by building them into most traditional household or other devices.

Tip: you can even automate a motor home with it: sockets, lighting, door condition, water leakage, water and air temperature measurement, etc.

Supported operating modes:

- Cloud / cloud mode: in this case it is connected to the free Shelly Cloud, through which (available for both iOS and Android) the Shelly Cloud smartphone app and from https://my.shelly.cloud/ we can control and configure devices; obsession
- You can choose LAN / local network mode, in which case devices can only be controlled from devices connected to the local network; but whatever
- Operate the device (instead of WiFi client mode) also in WiFi Access Point mode (e.g. if there is no permanent WiFi network at the installation location), then you can connect directly to the WiFi AC network broadcast by the device with a mobile phone or notebook near the device, and the connection during this time we can control the device or read e.g. the saved consumption data.

In case of Cloud mode, Shelly devices can also control each other (according to complex conditions) and turn them on/off using the Shelly Cloud Scene (Smart Control) function. (For example, a Shelly relay mounted behind a light switch can turn off/on another independent Shelly relay behind a power outlet through the cloud via the cloud, and turn it on/off, i.e. the devices wirelessly via WIFi and the factory cloud they can simply control each other according to the rules we set.)

It is also possible for the devices - if fixed IP addresses are used - (even without using Shelly Cloud, even in LAN mode) to control each other directly with HTTP commands (DDD, i.e. Direct Device-to-Device), i.e. Shelly devices even if the external internet connection is interrupted (or disabled on the desktop), they can switch each other on/off on the local network using the so-called With the help of Actions.
