Product description
THE VILLAGE OF THE VARAD RIVER is seething: In Varadok, the city of hurrogóns, common sense and temper are straining under the surface. Kold Norlamond's shoulders are weighed down by heavy weights, his promise binds his hands, but peace is slowly demanding greater sacrifices than war.
Meanwhile, a red princess stands in mourning on Homesick Rock, unaware that the Black Stork lives in the distance and cares for her. And a girl from the palace in Naples longs for the land of the mills: for Boiana, her new name is a life sentence, and the silk that hugs her body is a prison.
The Donddau is also shaking, which does not mean anything good: the awakening of the volcano used to indicate the approach of dark times. But in the end, a tragic murder makes the war between the Hurrogonians and the Laddanians inevitable.
Are the two peoples really facing each other, or are they irreparably entangled as to who is an enemy and who is a friend, who is a hero and who is a traitor?
In the second volume of RÓZA SCHMAL's fantasy trilogy, the story of the Laddan empire, the struggle of noble families for power and love, continues. The fascinating, imaginary medieval world is complemented by a map that follows the changes, family trees, new city plans, and a complete Laddan lexicon.
"When I was a child, I liked to make up stories and make drawings for them. By the time I grew up, the latter remained: after I graduated from the painting department of the University of Fine Arts, I started to work on book illustration. I scribbled the first designs of Ladann Valley in my notebooks in my teens, at the HÉV in Szentendre and during the summers in Balaton, but I didn't return to them until my son was a teenager and there wasn't much to talk about except Game of Thrones. Those conversations reminded me of how good it was to weave the story of my own fictional kingdom. The discovery that I could do it now , it came suddenly, and it still gives me joy." Roza Schmal
