Franny and Zooey are two longer stories about a pair of siblings. Franny, a college graduate, meets her boyfriend one weekend and is on the verge of a breakdown, she is so dissatisfied with the boy, herself and life in general.
His brother, Zooey, the TV actor, tries to comfort him in his own sensitive way after the disastrous weekend, and the story of this is written by their brother, Buddy (Salinger's alter ego).
The volume is a mosaic of the great virtual Salinger novel, the Glass chronicle that was never finished.
