The RØDE Videomic Pro+ is a video microphone with the characteristics of a real shotgun microphone, with advanced digital functions, which can be connected to the audio input of most professional and consumer cameras, as well as DSLR/MILC cameras and portable audio recorders, can be securely fixed using a hot shoe suspension, and thanks to the special Rycote Lyre anti-vibration suspension, completely excludes the noises resulting from the treatment. There is also a 3/8" threaded stand socket at the bottom of the hot shoe connector, so the microphone can also be mounted on microphone stands with a standard thread.

The VideoMic Pro+ is designed to fill the gap between traditional video microphones and shotgun microphones for professional use. The microphone has inherited all the advantages of its predecessors (VideoMic Pro) and adds new useful, professional functions. The basis is still the best sound quality in the category, the +20dB sensitivity increase function (with which you can bypass the noisy audio pre-amplifier stage of the cameras), the possibility of deep cut to reduce wind noise and rumbles, and the Rycote Lyre suspension that ensures maximum mechanical isolation.

A number of new functions were introduced with the microphone, some of which have since been considered standard market requirements:
- Real shotgun microphone capsule and design for even better sound quality and usability,
- Automatic switching on and off: the microphone detects the presence of voltage on the plug issued by the camera, switches off when the voltage disappears and switches on when it appears, so there is no longer a need to manually switch the microphone on and off,
- Built-in battery/battery holder cover, which can never be lost
- New power supply options: the voltage required for the operation of the microphone is provided by the new RØDE LB-1 lithium-ion battery, which is part of the package, but the microphone can be powered from traditional AA batteries or from an external battery (powerbank) via the micro USB connector on the microphone,
- The LB-1 battery can be charged via the micro USB connector of the microphone,
- The microphone cable is no longer included, you can use any cable with the 3.5mm jack socket on the microphone, but of course the package also includes a short jack-jack cable,
- All function switches have become digital, so the chance of these components failing (along with the sound they make when switching) is drastically reduced,
- Two deep cut frequencies > 150Hz and 75Hz,
- Mid-high frequency highlighting function > in the speech frequency range to make reports, interviews,
- Safety channel function > the system reduces the output of the right channel by 10dB for safety reasons, so that even when recording in an unpredictably loud environment, a flawless sound without overcontrol is produced,
- Improved, even more effective wind-blocking sponge.
