The RØDE Reporter microphone, developed for reporting and presentation purposes, is made with a dynamic capsule with spherical characteristics. During the development of the capsule, the primary consideration was to provide the user of the microphone with the possibility of free, uncompromising universal use in an environment that is full of environmental effects harmful to audio recordings.

Accordingly, the frequency response of the capsule has been specially optimized for speech. It reproduces the speaker's voice clearly, intelligibly and richly in detail in almost any recording environment.

The body of the microphone is made of durable die-cast aluminum alloy and is given a discreet matte black paint, so that light reflections do not cause problems when recording video cameras. A unique, multi-layer meshed aluminum basket protects the capsule from harmful environmental effects. Thanks to the sponge built into the basket, wind noise is reduced to such an extent that it is unnecessary to use a wind sponge that degrades the quality of the audio material and in many cases has a disturbing appearance.

The manufacturer also includes a labelable "microphone tongue" with the microphone as standard. In contrast to labeled sponges, this plastic microphone tongue not only deteriorates the quality of the recording, but also improves speech intelligibility in some cases by providing a kind of separation between the voice of the subject and the reporter. There is enough space on the microphone tongue to place a logo of a spectacular size, so that the advertisement of the TV channel or production company can always be seen in the video recordings.
