Robert Merle - Animal elmék (2021)
Product description
Since ancient times, man has abused the loyalty of domesticated or trained animals towards him, and he has never hesitated to sacrifice his four-legged friends for the sake of his goals. When people wanted to go to war, they always took horses, mules and donkeys, or even fighting dogs and elephants, who did not understand anything about the whole conflict, to the battlefields.
Thanks to the development of science, in the last century researchers managed to "communicate" with the most intelligent sea animals, the dolphins, who immediately attracted the interest of armies and secret services. Robert Merle was one of the first to draw attention to the dangers of this in his novel Animal Minds, published in 1967, on the basis of which a very successful film was later made (Day of the Dolphin, 1973).
The protagonists of the story, which can be called either science fiction or political thriller, the dolphins of the research center led by Professor Sevilla, are one day transported by military intelligence. Soon after, the US cruiser Little Rock explodes in the infamous Gulf of Tonkin, and the Americans blame China for the ship's destruction.
The whole world is anxiously watching the developments: is it still possible to avoid World War III? world War?
