Von Rosen took part in many major battles of the war, was there on the Eastern Front during the time of Barbarossa and at Kursk, commanding Königstiger armored personnel in Normandy and fighting the Soviets in Hungary. Only 489 of the Tiger B were produced, it was the most powerful heavy tank in service, and only one type of grenade could pierce its armor from a reasonable distance.
The present work is not merely the work of II. a memoir of World War I German armored warfare: a first-hand account of the successes, inconveniences, joys, and disappointments of the everyday life of an armored century.
He was awarded the First and Second Class Iron Cross and, on February 28, 1945, the Gold Cross of the German Cross, the highest award that could be given to the Wehrmacht for his bravery. He also received the Armored Assault Badge II as well as the Wound Badge Gold Degree.
Von Rosen continued his career as a military officer later, when the Bundeswehr was formed, from where he retired in 1982 as a major general.
He died in 2015, at the age of 93, two years after his memoir was published in Germany. He married the daughter of Caesar von Hofacker, a German air force officer, and his father-in-law was executed for his role in the July assassination attempt on Hitler.
