Product description
Just a few dozen kilometers from the shores of Europe, Tunisia plays the role of an ideal bridge connecting the two continents, the wonderful, shining gateway to Africa. The country of transit traffic between the northern and southern hemispheres is itself changing, the land of ancient customs and colors, cultures and peoples rooted in the distant past promises new flavors and unknown scents. It promises the exotic that so many European travelers dreamed of in the past, the dizzying charm of the meeting of the desert and the sea, the wail of the magnificent capital, Carthage, wiped off the face of the earth by the Romans. It promises a veritable microcosm of unexpected abundance and variety, a world full of tranquility and the silence of the soul, the boundless desert and the endless horizon. The one who enters the land of Africa for the first time through this special gate is exceptionally lucky, a world unfolds before his eyes and mind that dazzles and captivates his imagination: as if in some wonderful kaleidoscope we see an infinite number of shades of colors and contrasts from the ocher block of the southern deserts to the endless blue of the sky, from the lush green forest cover of the northern hills to the turquoise of the sea rich in fish and coral. until it shines. This book presents Tunisia following two guiding threads: one is history, through which we can learn about the noble and struggling past of this proud people, who left behind an immeasurable heritage and artistic wealth. The other is the bright, vibrant nature in which the inhabitants of this land lived and live with a respect and skill that we, the people of the Western world, have long since forgotten.
