In Hungary, according to the available statistics, at least 3 women are murdered every month by their husbands, ex-husbands, partners, ex-partners, friends, or ex-boyfriends or casual partners.
Yet we hear less and less about these murders and the warning signs that preceded them, or we ignore them and turn our heads away.
"Then when there is blood", we often hear about rescued victims who are asked why the official bodies did not help them. "It's a family matter, call me when there's blood", that's how the oft-quoted phrase sounds, but by then it's often too late...
The book makes up for the gap in several respects, thoroughly going over the causes, the possibilities of prevention, why the victim's environment does not help, and why the victim does not leave the relationship. It holds a mirror to any society where violence is part of everyday life within the family. And in this mirror, we see ourselves very clearly, the person who turns his head and thinks that this cannot happen to him. This picture is so shocking, so terrible that our hitherto indifferent self will be willing to say, it can't go on like this. After reading the book, this quote will ring in our ears: "because he who is silent is an accomplice among sinners."
"The book is important not only for those who deal with domestic violence at an institutional level, in the fields of the social care system, family assistance, healthcare, justice, but also for parents, teachers and all people who, along with me, believe that domestic violence can be curbed, with attention, prevention, and education, because the consequences are not invisible at all. You just have to start in time!"
