More than D-Mannose: Complex internal protection against colds and urinary tract infections!

What is D-Mannose?*

D-Mannose is a naturally occurring simple sugar molecule (also known as monosaccharide). It can be found in many fruits and vegetables - eg. Blue and cranberries, peaches, apples, orange, broccoli, cabbage. While structurally similar to glucose (commonly known as glucose), unlike glucose, our body can break down only in very small quantities. D-Mannose is thus not stored in the liver or other organs, but is excreted through the kidneys and leaves with urine, essentially unchanged.6,11 As a result, while adhering to the prescribed dosage, it can be at least negligible on blood glucose levels.11-13

D-Mannose is a proven help for urinary tract infections*

What do scientific research say about it?
A study summarizing the results of a comprehensive, 50 high quality clinical trials has come to the conclusion that D-Mannose is one of the most effective non-antibiotic prevention types of urinary tract infection and can reduce the risk of infection by up to 44 %.16
Another study, also summarizing earlier studies, has found that D-Mannose protects against recurrent colds and that its effectiveness in this area may be the same as antibiotics.3
A 2014 study examined the effect of D-Mannose with more than 300 women with recurring urinary tract infections.17 They were divided into three groups: D-Mannose, antibiotic and no treatment. After six months, there was no difference between the D-Mannose and the antibiotic group in the number of recurring infections.
