What is propolis?
The propolis produced by bees (Apis mellifera) comes from the resinous secretion of the bark and leaf buds of plants (e.g. poplar, beech, birch, chestnut, pine, etc.), which bees collect and process by secreting saliva and adding wax.
What does the word propolis mean?
The word propolis comes from the Greek language, in which pro means "at the entrance" and polis means "community" or "city", referring to the fact that honeybees use this natural product to protect the hive. Propolis is also known as bee glue or bee pitch.
What do bees use propolis for?
Propolis is used by bees to seal the holes of the beehives, smooth the inner walls, and is part of their natural defense against pathogens, parasites, bacteria and viruses. Bees use propolis to maintain the sterile environment of the beehives, which acts as a kind of natural disinfectant.
What does propolis contain?
In the complex chemical composition of naturally occurring propolis, more than 300 components have been identified, which largely depend on the origin of the propolis, i.e. the climate, the botanical source and the species of bees.
Natur Tanya PROPOLIS DROP product development
During the product development of Natur Tanya PROPOLISZ CSEPP, we tried to ensure that it contains as few additives as possible, for example, it does not contain glycerin, flavoring, sweeteners, or emulsifiers. We have developed our product in such a way that it is formulated in an alcohol-free form, so that it can also be enjoyed by children. This makes Natur Tanya® PROPOLIS DROPS an ideal choice for the whole family. In addition, the use of our alcohol-free propolis drops provides a sufficient number of doses for 30 days.
Polyphenols in Natur Tanya PROPOLIS DROPS
Polyphenols are among the most important bioactive components of propolis. The daily recommended dose contains 250 mg propolis extract concentrate (with 7.5 mg standardized polyphenols).
The cleaning process enables a significant reduction of the content of fat components (fatty acids, short-chain triglycerides and waxes) in raw propolis. Propolis extract contains less than 0.5% fat component. The propolis extract produced in this way results in a final product dispersible in water. In the process, the fat components are gradually removed, as a result of which the amount of active ingredients (polyphenols) remains unchanged.
Polyphenols are determined using the so-called high-performance liquid chromatography (with diode array detection) method (HPLC-DAD).
Minimization of allergenic substances in Natur Tanya PROPOLIS DROPS
As a substance of natural origin, propolis can cause an allergic reaction in people who are sensitive to it. The drastic reduction of allergenic substances was solved during the production of propolis extract by using a microorganism, Lactobacillus helveticus LH5, which has significant cinnamoyl esterase enzyme activity.
Did you know about propolis?
The color of propolis depends on the climate, it is usually brown, but at the same time all the shades ranging from yellow to black appear in it, in many cases with a reddish and greenish tone. The propolis extract used in our product mostly has a yellowish-brown color.
The history of the use of propolis goes back to the time of the ancient Greeks, Romans, Persians and Egyptians.
