Microfiber cloths are very common these days, because thanks to their material, they can be cleaned in a much easier and more environmentally friendly way.

The essence of microfibers is that they are made up of lots of small microscopic loops that act as electrostatic fibers, so stubborn grease stains and dust can be removed with plain water without any chemicals.

The point is simply that you don't push dust and grease away from the car, but rather it absorbs them, unlike smooth rags.
