The 1.5x auxiliary objective lens enlarges the stereoscopic microscope but reduces the working distance to 47 mm and the field of view by one and a half compared to a conventional objective.

The magnification of stereoscopic microscopes is primarily provided by the eyepieces.
When observing through the eyepiece, an auxiliary lens is used when the magnification achieved with the eyepieces is not sufficient.
When taking pictures with a digital camera, the eyepieces are not part of the optical design, so you should use an auxiliary lens.

The auxiliary lens is screwed onto the lens cap.
