Product description
The book The Heroic Remembrance of the Great War presents the creators of the period between the two world wars, in whose oeuvre the heroic monuments played a decisive role. During this period, sculpture faced new challenges. In the decades before the war, Hungarian public sculpture flourished. This was interrupted by the Great War, and the inauguration of public monuments and the tenders that moved many were dwindled. The post-war economic downturn, in which the loss of war, the looting of the country and the cross-border movement of raw materials in areas torn apart by peace dictatorship, and the end of the Monarchy's single market, played a role in this.
This volume is about the dominant sculptors of heroic monuments, who also composed between the two world wars, including undeservedly forgotten, denied artists. The photographs in the volume show monuments that have been personally visited in recent years, as they were seen in our public spaces in 2017 and 2018.
