Lestyán is our perennial spice and herb belonging to the celery family. It came from Persia to the Mediterranean region, and then through the monks it also reached the central region of Europe. It belongs to the umbelliferae family, and sheds its small yellowish-green flowers in summer. All parts of the plant contain the special essential oil, but usually the most is extracted from the root, which is a very expensive and highly concentrated oil with an allergenic effect. The essential oil of Essential Heal contains the essential oil extracted during the distillation of the leaves, the main active ingredients of which are monoterpene alcohols. The sunnier the place the plant lives, the more essential oil it has. In the pharmacopoeias of several countries, its diuretic and carminative effects have been officially confirmed. Its stem is an important source of vitamins and minerals, it is no coincidence that it has been found in the gardens of monks since the Middle Ages. The flowers and leaves blooming in July and August smell and taste like parsley. Lestyán is also known as a "vegetable plant" in our country, as it is the main ingredient of food seasonings, spicy salts, soup cubes and soup powders.
In the kitchen, the leaves can be added dried or fresh to the broth, giving it a special flavor, just like cooking vegetables.
In ancient times, it was often used to get rid of foot odor and other bad smells. Its leaves were also put into shoes and boots for deodorization and disinfection. The XVII.
