Ladányi János - Hanyatló világok - Szubjektív scientific önéletrajz

This book summarizes the most important results of János Ladányi's 45 years of work. It differs from a traditional specialist book in that it primarily takes into account the subjective path leading to the choice of topics and the drawing of lessons, family determinations, experiences and impressions. It does this by using highly simplified language instead of the usual rather complicated scientific language. In addition, it does not focus on the complicated path leading to scientific recognition, but on the results of individual researches. There are hardly any numbers and data in the volume - statistical tables and diagrams are not found in this book at all. The chosen style and language strongly determine the topics discussed in the volume. The first two chapters deal with the author's birthplace and family, as well as his primary and secondary education. This is followed by a longer chapter dealing with social policy before and after the regime change, the undisclosed purpose of which is to dispel illusions related to the extent of social inequalities under the Kádár regime and their social policy management. In the following, the author explores from several angles the problem that the understanding of the formation and reproduction of social inequalities necessarily remains partial if we ignore the role of ethnic inequalities and try to start solely from the individual's position in the social division of labor. Finally, the book deals with the national habitus as a historical product and a history-shaping factor. The text sections are accompanied by archival and new photos. The latter are the works of Gábor Csanádi.
